Cotswolds weekend

On the weekend 8th-10th October, there was a walking group trip to the Cotswolds, staying in the youth hostel in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Saturday

On Saturday morning we gathered in the square, outside the youth hostel, before the walk.

We walked out of Stow, down to the Oxfordshire Way, and along it to Bourton-on-the-Water. (Despite the name of the path, we were always in Gloucestershire. We did get within about a mile and a half of the border though. Nearly every path in this bit of the Cotswolds is part of some named path, making them hard to follow on the map).

We ate our lunch in Bourton, a very pretty village. With a great sweet shop.

Caption competition...

After lunch we left Bourton and headed towards Lower Slaughter.

We stayed here for a while; the shop by the mill sold some rather nice coffee ice cream.

The walk onwards from there was muddy in places, with a steepish hill at the end towards Stow.

Saturday Evening

In the evening we had a really nice meal at the pub opposite the youth hostel, then came back (via another pub, for many of us) to the hostel.

Sunday

On the Sunday morning we did a very short circular walk through Lower Swell.
