There was a walking group holiday to the Wicklow mountains in Ireland at the beginning of September.
We came across on the ferry, did some shopping, found the house where we were staying, ate dinner and went to bed.
We drove to Bray for the start of the first day's walk. The drive took rather longer than expected, as the road we originally planned to take was closed because of a murder, the alternative we found on a map was closed for maintenance, and we got lost following the diversion posted. In fact we got there so late that we had lunch before starting the walk.
After lunch we started walking south out of Bray, along the coast for a while and then up onto the hill.
It was a hard climb but the view from the top was worth it.
We could have gone on, over Bray Head (which is even higher) and down into Greystones that way, but we weren't sure of the route, so we retraced our steps back to the coastal path and went along that way, beside the railway.
We ended up in the pretty village of Greystones.
We got the train back to Bray. When we got back to the accommodation it was a lovely warm evening and I took a few photos out of the window. We saw the bird flying into the nest, but it wouldn't come out again for me to photograph.
