There was a walking group holiday to the Wicklow mountains in Ireland at the beginning of September.
Todays walk was lead by someone from the Bray Strollers, a local walking club. We met at Drumgoff, in Glenmalur which is the next valley south from Glendalough, and after a cup of tea at the hotel there we set off along the Wicklow Way.
After a while we left the nice easy forest tracks and headed steeply up the mountain, following what seemed to be a stream, still on the Wickloy Way.
There was then an easy path, a lot of it on boards, to the place where we stopped for lunch.
After lunch the terrain got a bit tougher, as we headed up onto the top of Mullacor and along the ridge, over peat which was boggy in places.
As we were making fairly good time, we decided to lengthen the walk by heading along a ridge up to Derrybawn, and back again.
The walk back down from here was mostly on forest tracks, which got rather tedious.
