There was a walking group holiday to the Isle of Skye at the beginning of September, staying in self-catering accommodation belonging to the Sligachan hotel.
A day off walking. People did various different things; a lot chose to go on a boat trip which by all accounts was good. We visited the distillery and went up to the Old Man of Storr (which we'd missed by not doing the easy walk on Tuesday).
We weren't allowed to take photos in the distillery. Actually I think it might have been only the room with the stills in where it was officially banned but there were signs as you entered the building saying that cameras weren't allowed.
After all three of us bought some expensive whisky in the distillery shop, we stopped for lunch in Portree, in a pub that had some very nice Isle of Skye beer on.
We parked at the car park below the old man and walked up. At first we tried an alternative route up but gave up when it became too boggy.
In the evening we all went down to the pub for a meal and to play some pool.
