There was a walking group holiday to the Lake District at the end of July, staying in a hostel in Ambleside
The whole group did a walk over the top of Loughrigg Fell, a low (335m) but interesting hill near Ambleside. The weather was fairly unpleasant, with continuous though mostly not heavy rain.
We descended down to Grasmere to eat our sandwiches.
After lunch most of the group took a flattish route home via Rydal water, while a few nutters looked for a nearby big hill to climb. Naturally I was in the latter group. We went around Grasmere and headed straight up the side of Heron Pike (612m). After a while the rain stopped and the clouds lifted a bit so we had some nice views.
