There was a walking group holiday to the Lake District at the end of July, staying in a hostel in Ambleside
On wednesday Gemma, Marie, Ben and Alistair joined us for a great walk around Buttermere. Although the weather started off just as bad as on previous days, it improved a lot during the day and by early afternoon we had fantastic views.
We started off up Red Pike (755m). Note how flooded Buttermere was.
After a very cold stop for lunch on top of Red Pike, we continued along the ridge towards High Stile (806m) and High Crag (744m).
We dropped down steeply off the end of High Crag, then over Seat (561m) went up onto Haystacks (597m).
We came off Haystacks, crossed a stream and up to the quarry. From here half the party went on to Fleetwith Pike (648m) while the rest walked back along the road.
